Atanse is developing neurosurgical instruments for biotechnology companies so that they can deliver therapeutics in the brain. Unlike traditional delivery cannulas, our product enables greater precision with reduced trauma to healthy brain tissue.


The Problem 

Traditional stainless steel cannulas used for neurosurgery are large-bore and rigid, limiting delivery of therapeutic along a straight trajectory. With large-diameter delivery devices, precision is suboptimal and the injection site incurs unnecessary trauma, particularly if the instrument is rigid and requires multiple penetrations of brain tissue to achieve three-dimensional distribution of therapeutic. 

Atanse's Solution

Atanse’s patented radial microcannula technology permits three-dimensional dissemination of therapeutic from a single penetration of brain tissue. Our lead product utilizing this technology, the Intracerebral Microinjection Instrument (IMI), is a minimally invasive therapeutic delivery device that provides neurosurgeons with improved control and precision, reduction in trauma and morbidity, and improved treatment efficacy.
